This page is for anyone on a franchise brand's team who works with Rikor: operations, legal, compliance or the executive team. If you're new to the team, start here. It covers what Rikor does for your brand, the one step that makes it work, and how to use the RMS day to day.

What Rikor does for your brand

Rikor exists to protect franchising: your brand, and every franchisee's investment in it. Rikor is free to the brand and works in three ways:

  • Your franchisees get insured right from day one. New franchisees apply through your brand's own Rikor link. Their dedicated Rikor consultant builds their insurance to your brand's requirements, so they open protected and compliant. About 89% of new franchisees choose Rikor. None are required to.
  • Every location is checked against your requirements. Franchisees who keep their own agent are monitored too. The RMS (Risk Management System) collects each location's certificate of insurance (COI), checks it against your requirements and follows up when something is missing, short or about to lapse.
  • Your requirements are right. Rikor reviews your FDD's insurance section against our industry benchmarks for free and recommends the wording for your Item 8, so what you require actually protects the brand.

The first is where protection comes from. With monitoring on, franchisees insured through Rikor are 93.3% compliant. Franchisees insured elsewhere are 48% compliant. Monitoring tells you who falls short; having franchisees insured right from the start is what closes the gap.

Step 1. Make sure Rikor is in your franchisee onboarding

This is the step that matters most, and the one that gets lost when the people who set it up move on. Every new franchisee should see your brand's Rikor link in your onboarding, about three weeks before their loan closes, their lease is signed or their doors open. If you're not sure it's there, check with whoever runs onboarding, or ask us. See Add Rikor to your franchisee onboarding.

Step 2. Sign in

Go to https://app.rikor.io and enter your work email. We email you a six-digit code. There is no password. See How do I log in to the RMS?

Step 3. Give the right people access

A Manager on your team adds people under Account, then Users. Each person is either a contact who only receives email, or a portal user with an access level: Viewer, Editor or Manager. If your group owns several brands, tell us who needs to see every brand and who needs only their own, and we'll set it up. When someone on your team leaves, add their replacement here and point them to this page. See How to add users and contacts.

Step 4. Know what your franchisees receive

When a location's insurance needs attention, the RMS emails the franchisee from "[your brand] via RIKOR" with a button to upload a certificate. Reminders cover a missing certificate, a coverage that can't be verified, a coverage that doesn't meet your requirements, and policies that are expiring or have lapsed. Your brand decides which reminders are on. See Emails the RMS sends.

Step 5. See who needs attention

Click Franchisees and filter by status to find the locations that need work, then open a location to see exactly which requirement is missing or short. When a franchisee keeps falling short, point them to their Rikor consultant: we can quote coverage that meets your requirements.

Step 6. Get the report

The Executive Summary Report emails your compliance rate, coverage status counts and policy counts for your network, and how many of your franchisees are insured through Rikor against those insured elsewhere. Turn it on for each person who should get it. See How to read the Executive Summary Report.

Step 7. Run the program

The RMS does the collecting and reminding. Your team decides what happens when a franchisee doesn't act. These pages lay out how brands run it, from launch to steady state:

  1. Start Here: Compliance Culture
  2. Initiating Franchisee Insurance Compliance
  3. Phase 1: Eliminating "Not-Verified" Policy Statuses
  4. Phase 2: Addressing Non-Compliance
  5. Phase 3: Continuous Monitoring and Reporting

Step 8. Keep your requirements current

Requirements written years ago, or copied from another brand, often leave gaps. Ask us for a free review of your FDD's insurance section when you update your FDD, add a new service, or enter a new state.
